Did you know, at Connect Church, we have different types of groups for people based on where they are on their journey? You might hear us refer to Alpha Groups, First Step Groups, Growth Groups, or (the catch-all) Connect Groups.
In general, we brand all of our groups as Connect Groups. Obviously, this falls in line with our name, but there is another reason we call them Connect Groups.
We ask people who are looking to join a group, to figure out which of the following statements most closely aligns with where they’re at in life:
- I am brand new to the Christian faith. OR I am exploring the Christian faith. Trying to figure out what I believe. If this statement is where they’re at, we recommend they join an Alpha Group.
- I am new to Connect Church and looking to get to know people and see how groups work here at Connect. If this is where they’re at, we recommend they try a First Steps Group.
- I am looking for a group that will primarily challenge me to grow in my Christian faith. If this is where they’re at, we recommend they try a Growth Group.
- I would like to get to know people who are in a similar place in life or going through a similar season. If this is where they’re at, we recommend they try a Connect Group.
Over the next few posts, I will highlight each of these group types in greater detail as well as give examples of how these groups work. I think it is important for our group leaders to understand our approach to funneling people into groups that will best nurture their spiritual development.
